If you’re new to the world of essential oils and aromatherapy, you might not know the benefits of Cypress or Juniper Berry, but we’ll bet you’re familiar with Lavender oil. That’s because Lavender is one of the most popular and versatile essential oils out there.

There are many ways you can use this oil to enhance your wellness and scent your home. Diffusing oil is always a great option, but there are many other ways to use this oil to scent your life.

Try these easy tips to take advantage of Lavender’s many benefits:

1. Scent your Clothing with Soft, Soothing Lavender

Using a sachet is a great way to add scent to any space in your home or on the go. A sachet is a small scented cloth packaged in a cloth or paper bag. They are easy to make at home; simply take a small piece of cloth and add 20 drops of 100% pure Lavender essential oil, put it inside a fabric or paper bag, and fasten it to a hanger in your closet, or place it in a dresser drawer to lightly scent your clothing.

Sachets are also great to throw in your suitcase when you’re on the go, to keep your clothing smelling fresh.

2. Make a Natural Laundry Detergent

Store-bought laundry detergent is made with a mixture of chemicals that can irritate the skin and be harmful to the environment. A safe, gentle, and effective laundry detergent is easy and inexpensive to make at home using Lavender essential oil and Distilled White Vinegar. Lavender is anti-bacterial, so it will disinfect your clothing safely and naturally.

Add 1 tsp of Lavender essential oil to 16 oz. of vinegar to make a batch that will last for 8 cycles. Add ¼ cup to your wash per load.

3. Clarify your Skin with Lavender Mist

If you have an oilier skin type or are prone to break outs, Lavender essential oil is your go-to treatment to clarify and balance your skin. Lavender is anti-microbial, so it’s great for clearing up break outs and preventing them from happening. It’s also very calming for the skin. If you are experiencing skin irritation, it’s a great oil to mist on your face and neck on the go.

Add 4 drops of 100% pure Lavender essential oil to ½ cup distilled water and 1 tsp witch hazel, in a 4 ounce spray bottle.

4. Spray Lavender Mist on your Bedding to Improve Sleep

Lavender essential oil is great for helping induce sleep. It’s very calming and soothes anxiety, to help ease you into a peaceful slumber. Mist your pillow and duvet to surround yourself in the relaxing scent and relax your mind for a deep, restorative sleep.

5. Promote Hair Growth with Lavender

Lavender essential oil is known to help promote hair growth when massaged into the scalp on a daily basis. If you are experiencing hair loss due to alopecia or simply want to promote hair growth, this is a great natural treatment. You can apply Lavender directly to skin, but should avoid doing so if you’re pregnant, elderly, or have very sensitive skin. If you’re very sensitive you can blend it with a carrier oil, like coconut or jojoba oil to make the treatment gentler.

There are so many ways to add essential oils to live a happier and healthier lifestyle, and these are just a few of our favourites. Let us know how you use Lavender on social @escents.
